For most of us, whole plate format is a choice for personal work. The website links reflect another dimension of the work of contemporary whole plate photographers. Whole plate photographers who wish to add a link: please leave your details as in the three fields in a message below. Your link details will be added to the page shortly.

Re: Links to Whole Plate Photographers
Mine is 2 years out of date; coming 3 years.
Could yours possibly be any more out of date than mine?

Add a new Whole Plate Photographer:
Gary L. Quay, USA. www.foolscape.net
I just bought an Ansco studio camera, which you can see on my Flickr page on a link from my web site, and some film holders. I have a model lined up for when I return from PA later in August.

Hi Gary -
details added! I found the link to your Ansco:
Some of the comments are very humourous. I particularly liked this one:
It looks like a complete period whole plate studio set up. Are you planning to shoot film emulsion only, or dry plate too?
Kind regards,
RJ

Probably. I don't know when I last updated it.
Gary, I love your camera! I have a Century 8x10 that I acquired some whole plate backs for a while back, but haven't tried to use yet.
I need to update my scanner, my computer among other things!
I don't see those things happening yet.

Re: Links to Whole Plate Photographers
A 14 3/4" Ilex Paragon Anastigmat. The soft focus adjustment on this thing is amazing.

Cool! Do you have any photos made with that lens posted?

Re: Links to Whole Plate Photographers
Diane - it can be quite an effort to update a few pages...let alone a website..! I suppose it makes sense to learn a little just to make life easier in the future. If only digital work wasn't so tedious....!
Gary - that's a fantastic sounding lens. Here are the other Ilex Paragon which other whole plate photographers use.
The Kodak standard whole plate DDS type dry plate holders are available from time to time. Sounds like your Ansco uses the same Kodak standard DDS type holders.
Kind regards,
RJ

That's good to know. The holders I have will need to be shimmed to make them fit. They are 7 1/2" wide and my back is 7 7/8" wide. I hope the depth is right.
I don't have any images yet. I've only just gotten the holders and film. I'm going away for a few weeks, but after that, I have a model lined up for a shoot called "The Jazz Age Project."
